Sarah Gebauer
Founder, Physician & AI Model Evaluation Expert at Validara Health
Dr. Sarah Gebauer is a Stanford-educated anesthesiologist and healthcare AI strategist with over two decades of clinical experience and deep expertise in clinical validation, governance, and biosecurity. She is the founder of Validara Health, a physician-led AI validation firm that provides expert guidance on clinical evaluation and emerging governance standards. Her work helps vendors, investors, and health systems de-risk adoption through rigorous, pragmatic approaches focused on safety, reliability, and clinical relevance.
As a senior physician researcher at the RAND Corporation, Dr. Gebauer works at the intersection of biosecurity policy, generative AI, and technology governance. Her team developed novel approaches to AI benchmarking in the biological sciences, including human expert comparisons. She also built one of the largest physician communities focused on applied machine learning in medicine and publishes a widely read newsletter on clinical AI.
In parallel, Dr. Gebauer has held clinical leadership roles spanning perioperative services, quality innovation, and pain and palliative care. She has led enterprise-wide quality and efficiency initiatives across both rural and academic health systems, bringing grounded clinical insight to her advisory work. A frequent speaker at national forums and contributor to journals including Nature, BMJ, and the Journal of Palliative Medicine, she brings both thought leadership and hands-on implementation experience to the evolving healthcare AI landscape.
