Chantz Strong is a proven leader in the modernization of data and technology strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and driving meaningful transformation. As Executive Director of Technology & Analytics and Chief Privacy Officer at the CMPA, Chantz oversees a broad portfolio, including AI and Advanced Analytics, Data & Business Intelligence, Application Development, IT Infrastructure, IT Security, and Privacy and Records Management. He ensures compliance with privacy legislation and provides strategic direction for the organization’s IT security program. Under Chantz’s leadership, his teams deliver secure, reliable, and adaptable technology solutions that support both corporate operations and member services. They provide data and analysis to enable informed decision-making, develop and implement privacy standards, and manage records. The team also leads the assessment, evaluation, and adoption of new AI tools, as well as the development of robust AI governance frameworks. Chantz is committed to deploying “win/win/win” AI solutions—systems that are technically excellent and deliver accurate, reliable results; are deployed ethically and responsibly; and maintain the critical human element. This approach ensures ongoing knowledge generation, continuous expertise development, and the delivery of high-quality service. Chantz holds an MSc in Systems Engineering from MIT and a BSc in Computer Science and Economics from McGill University. He brings extensive leadership experience, including eight years as Executive Director of Research and Analytics at Destination Canada, where he modernized analytics practices, pioneered data-sharing initiatives between tourism and fintech, partnered with Google on machine learning projects, and developed research programs that shaped government policy. Chantz has also held senior roles with the Government of Canada, serving at Health Canada, Public Safety Canada, the Privy Council Office, Finance Canada, and the Treasury Board. His career includes experience with Montreal startups and as a business consultant in the UK. Outside of work, Chantz is an active volunteer supporting sports and community organizations, enjoys spending time outdoors, and is always eager to try new things.
